Orange is the New Black" cast Uzo Aduba won her first
Emmy Award for her portrayal of Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on the
said series.
The 33-year-old "Orange is the New Black" cast Uzo
Aduba reportedly told press after the 2014 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards
program that she was "so full, that's why tears come out. I'm stuffed
really. I'm beyond full. My cup runneth over right now. I feel absolutely all
of those things: I feel full of joy, like a fountain. Mission
accomplished."
When asked about how she felt when she went on stage to
collect her trophy, the newcomer said "It's like you're walking and you're
aware that you're walking toward Morgan Freeman, but you're fairly certain you
should still be sitting on your seat. You're like, 'Maybe I'm embarrassing
myself, maybe they didn't call my name, maybe somebody else's name. I don't
know what's happening.'"
Uzo Aduba was reportedly "speechless" upon hearing
that she had been nominated for an Emmy.
"We worked on this show and spent time together really
just trying to tell a great story and invest in each other's performances. It
just feels good to know that people love the show as much as we love making
it," Aduba said.
She was nominated alongside Laverne Cox and Natasha Lyonne.
In an interview with the Huffington Post in 2013, Aduba said
she originally auditioned for a different role but was offered "Crazy
Eyes" because the casting director saw her potential for the part.
"And to be honest, when I got the script for it, it
felt like the right fit," the actress remarked.
